Preschool Program Workshop

Adjusting from 2 years of remote learning and tele-therapy to our children being back to school has proven to be a huge and scary transition! Parents and therapists are wondering, what more can we do to keep our children motivated and engaged will working on their fine motor development? So much of our physical learning climate continues to be uncertain, Hands on Fun OT is here to help! Our Pre-School Program Workshop provides a structured time efficient and fun opportunity for children to strengthen the muscles in the hands and arms with tasks that will support good fine motor development.

This 90-minute workshop is designed for parents and caregivers of children, between the ages of 3 and 4 year old. Preschool teachers, teaching assistants and related service providers may also be interested.
Fine motor skills are the foundation children need before they learn handwriting, in order to have proper pencil grasp and control of a writing instruments. Children's preschool years are critical times to develop age appropriate fine motor skills. However, this area, which is so important, is often overlooked.
The Hands on Fun OT Preschool Program has been developed to help strengthen children's fine motor skills with creative and fun activities.

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
-Complete a Postural Analysis and identify which muscle groups may be over and or under developed as it pertains to fine motor skills.
-Identify the 6 Domains of the HOFOT Preschool Program that contribute to good fine motor development.
-Perform the daily activities to implement successful carry over into the home and or preschool environment.
-Implement practical strategies and solutions using little to no cost materials to build muscle tone, play and fine motor skills.

About the Instructor
Kimberly Cunningham, MS OTR has been a Pediatric Occupational Therapy for over 25 years. Kimberly is a full time pediatric occupational therapist with the NYC DOE in Bronx, NY at a community-based school for children in Kindergarten to 5th Grade. Having worked in home settings and in the school system Kimberly holds multiple certifications: sensory integration (SIPT certified), Brain Gym, Therapeutic Listening, John Barnes Myofascial Release Levels 1-3. and 300 Child Yoga Certification. Kimberly is the proud owner of Hands On Fun OT.
