The act of playing is extremely important in childhood development. Through different play activities, children are able to understand their environment, develop physical coordination, practice social skills and gain self-confidence. Occupational therapy helps children develop such skills, as specific toys are typically used to achieve goals while allowing the child to have fun.
The Hands on Fun OT Program comes with a specialized kit of toys that are to be used during each occupational therapy activity worked on at home. All of the toys included provide appropriate challenges so that your child will learn while having fun. Each item builds on specific strengths and abilities without overwhelming the child. For example, the pegboard included in the Preschool Hands on Fun OT program enables children to develop wrist and shoulder strength while working through different activities.
All toys included in the Preschool HOFOT kit:
- Pegboard & pegs
- Plastic shoebox
- Spinning tops
- Porcupine balls
- Ice tray
- Plastic lever top bottle
- Frog flippers
- Wind up toy
Each toy works on different developmental needs and is safe to be used by the age group that it is recommended for in our manual. For more information on all of the Hands on Fun OT programs, please click here.
